Resignation letter states reasons as
1) Wounds received on 5/22/63 were still not allowing him to discharge his duties as an officer. If the company was called upon to march he couldn't accompany them.

2) General health was delicate and feeble since entering the climate and should he stay during the spring and summer months he could endanger his future health or cost him his life.
