Who are "we"?
Throughout the site I go from "I" and "me" to "us" and "we" at various times. While I am the developer of the site and primary researcher there are many other folks who have helped contribute to the site.
The 7th Kentucky Inc. folks are directly responsible for all the information on the 7th Kentucky...at least the information for Company A. Folks like Drew Andrews, Kurt Holman, and Nicki and Susan Hughes spent untold hours researching the 7th and pouring through census records, muster records, and who knows what else to gather the information presented here. They cannot be thanked enough for their efforts.
The Estill County Historical Society has been incredibly helpful with my research into the 8th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry. I haven't expressed my appreciation to them as much as I should and that's entirely my fault. Folks like Franklin Miller who sent me a copy of "My Dear Wife: Letters from a Union Colonel"(letters and narrative about Sidney M. Barnes, Colonel of the 8th, and his family) and Norwood Thorpe who sent me a collection of biographical studies on veterans of the 8th. That information is an integral part of this site and has helped me to understand these veterans more than I could have ever accomplished on my own. Ladies and Gentlemen of the ECHS, thank you.
Tim Downey and Robert Baker have put alot of effort into building the Union Regiments of Kentucky site. I am pointing all of the regimental histories to their work with their permission for which I must say Thanks guys.
Many folks have emailed me with information on specific soldiers. This information could range from corrections to genealogical information to specific stories about specific events in the lives of the soldiers. This is the kind of information that makes these men come to life to tell us alittle bit more about themselves. The list is far too long to lay out here. You know who you are and please know that your information is more than appreciated.
All of these good people are as much a part of this site as I am. I just organize the information and present it to the viewer. That's why I go from "I" and "me" to "us" and "we" all the time. The site is "ours" and the work is "mine". Hmmm...that may be more confusing than when I started!...ah well...Thank you everyone for helping out!
