DECLARATION FOR ORIGINAL INVALID PENSION

State of Kentucky
County of Menifee

"On this 29 day of March, A.D. 1883....George W. Sons, aged 43 years, a resident of Menifee Co., KY...entered military service on or about 14 day of October 1861 as Private in company B of the 8th Regiment of KY Infantry commanded by Capt. Robert Hickman & C.B. Benton and was honorably discharged at Chattanooga, Tennessee on or about the 17 day of  November 1864, by reason of Expirations of term of Service. Personal description: 43 years old, height 5 ft. 4 in.; complexion - dark, hair - dark, eyes - dark. While a member of the organization, in the service  and in the line of his duty at Lebanon, Ky., on or about January 1862 he  contracted Typhoid Fever affecting his sight and hearing, Shell Mound,  Tenn., April 1864, he contracted disease of liver from exposure. No  hospital treatment.... Prior to his entry into service his occupation  was listed as as farmer, and that he is sholly disabled from obtaining   subsistence by manual labor by reason of his injuries."

DECLARATION FOR MOTHER'S OR FATHER'S APPLICATION FOR ARMY PENSION.

"On this 28 day of October, A.D. 1878, personally appeared before the  Clerk of the Estill Circuit Court of Estill County, Geo. W. Sons, a  resident of the County of Estill and State of Kentucky aged 42 years,  who being first duly sworn according to law, doth on his oath make the  following declaration in order to obtain the benefits of the provisions made by the Act of Congress approved July 14, 1862, and its amendments:

That he is a resident of Estill Co. is the Son of John Manuel Sons, and Son of Nancy Sons, who was a Private in Company "B", commanded by C.D.  Benton, in the 8th Regiment of Kentucky Infantry Vols, in the war of  1861, who (1) was disabled in Tennessee, dimness of vision and loss of  hearing.

He also declares that he has not, in any way, been engaged in, or aided or abetted, the rebellion in the United States; that he is not in the receipt of a pension under the 2nd section of the act above-mentioned,  or under any other act.
